Video Poker is a favored game that usually will be bet on in casinos throughout the globe, or in your house on your home computer, using an Internet connection. The game rules are absolutely straightforward and involve the player trying to get the highest assemblage of cards possible in order to win money. In this respect it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, minus the involvement with any other players. Of course, tactics employed during a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the player puts credits (whether it is tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will then be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.

The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and bettors should now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.

After the bettor has selected which cards he wishes to keep, they should press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be dealt if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.

Generally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can range from game to game, so that experienced gamblers are able to choose the most beneficial machine each time.

Once the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that they may have won. Further, several styles of the game give the bettor a chance to increase their winnings, in which case another round is played. There are also variations between specific machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
