Video Poker is a popular game that is able to be bet on in casinos throughout the globe, or alternatively at home on your home computer, through a web account. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player attempting to achieve the best combination of cards achievable in order to win money. In this respect it’s very similar as a regular game of poker, without the involvement with other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and presses the draw button. A five card hand will be electronically ‘handed out’ on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and bettors should now decide which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, whether it is all or none.

After the bettor has selected which cards he wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards are needed they will be handed out. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.

Generally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can vary from game to game, so that knowledgeable bettors are able to select the most money-making ones each time.

After the first round has played out, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Additionally, some styles of the game give the bettor an opportunity to double their wins, in which situation another game is played. There are also variations among specific games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
